TO PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO DOING SOMETHING AWESOME
…take a drive up a long, winding narrow road along staggering bluffs to Sandfly Bay in New Zealand, where you’ll have to climb down steep sandy hills (which are a pain to climb back up, let me tell you) to this amazing beach. There you’ll catch a glimpse of - and get really frighteningly close to - some of the world’s rarest sea lions and maybe a penguin or two (we only saw penguin footprints here, though).
TO DO COOL THINGS ON YOUR BIRTHDAY
…drive way out of your way down a gravel road, along the coast of the Catlins in New Zealand, and walk out through a muddy sheep field to a windswept cliff poised over the fierce Antarctic Ocean. This is Slope Point, the southernmost point of New Zealand - you’re standing closer to the South Pole than the Equator.
